through Fun Games.

For details, see near
the bottom of this page.

The method is lucidly explained

(i) for Two digit numbers in

Subtraction of two digit numbers

(ii) for Three digit numbers in

3 Digit Subtraction

(iii) for Four digit numbers in

Subtraction Problems.

Please study all the above.

That knowledge is a prerequisite here.

Here, we deal with five or more digit numbers.

Subtraction of five or
more digit numbers

You have to be familiar with the
numbers 10000 and above in figures
and in words discussed in
the decimal number system.

The procedure here is also same
as in the previous cases
except that the borrowing is done,
one or more steps further.

Example on Subtraction
with regrouping

Find the difference of the
numbers 230123 and 134678.

Solution :
The vertical presentation of
the problem is shown below.

          230123
          134678
          ------

          ------
The process is shown in the
vertical presentation below.

          2131209110211313
            134678
          -------
           095445
          -------

By this time you are familiar with
the process and I am sure you can
understand the above process.

Thus 230123 - 134678 = 95445. Ans.

Check :
You may add 134678 and 95445 and check
whether it is equal to 230123 or not.

          134678
           95445
              1
             1
            1
           1
          -------
          230123
          -------

It is verified to be correct.
