through Fun Math Games.

For details, see near
the bottom of this page.

Please study
Two Digit Numbers

That knowledge is a prerequisite here.

What is the successor to 99 ?
You know it is 99 + 1.
What is its value ?

Recall, the answer to
what is the successor to 9 ?
or what is 9 + 1 ?

The answer you know is a
two digit number denoted
by 10 and called ten.

Similarly, with the place
value rule, you know the
answer to 99 + 1 is 100.
100 is called Hundred.

The value of the place third
from right is ten times ten
and is called hundred.

So 100 stands for zero ones
plus zero tens plus one hundred
which is hundred.

The successor to 100 is 101,
called one hundred one.

Similarly, the subsequent numbers
are 102, 103, 104, .......199,
called one hundred two, one hundred
three, one hundred four,.........
one hundred ninety nine.

What is the successor to 199 ?
We know adding 1 to 199 will
increase the digit value of
hundreds place.

So the answer is 200, called
two hundred.

Now , you know the subsequent
numbers as 201 to 299
called two hundred one to
two hundred ninety nine.

Similarly, 300 to 999 called
three hundred to nine hundred
ninety nine can be understood.
